Background Information Services, Inc. (BIS) is proud to be serving the Background Screening Industry for a quarter of a century.

BIS partnered with the State of Colorado to pioneer Colorado Court records online web access back in 1989 which led BIS to be noted as one of the first companies to offer Criminal and Civil records. BIS quickly grew our services by listening to our client’s needs which launched us into the pre-employment and background screening industry.

E-Verify & Electronic I-9

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1986 legally requires that employers verify the employment eligibility status of newly-hired employees and makes it unlawful for employers to knowingly hire or continue to employ unauthorized workers. Noncompliance, whether intentional or caused simply by oversight, has severe legal and financial consequences imposed by the Department of Homeland Security. Non-US Citizens must provide valid work authorization documentation in order to be employed in our country.

BIS is authorized to perform I-9 Compliance Services through both DHS (Department of Homeland Security and SSA (Social Security Administration) databases. BIS provides an electronic interface in order to provide instant information critical to the hiring process.

Users receive a confirmation number from the Department of Homeland Security for each individual processed. In addition to verifying the eligibility of US citizens, it will also confirm the accuracy of Social Security Numbers, Immigration "A" numbers and I-94 arrival/departure numbers and in real-time, obtain employee's legal right to work status with a DHS-issued verification number.
