Social Security Number Search
A Social Security Number search is customarily the first search conducted in the screening process. Background Information Services, Inc. offers several different types of social security number searches. These searches may be combined to achieve the deepest level of verification necessary.
Address Search
This search uses the Social Security Number to determine all names and addresses that have been used by a given social security number. BIS' Address Search is a product of a database search which is comprised of over 1200 reporting sources. The search is conducted with a name and social security number. BIS recommends this search in lieu of the SSN Trace due to the depth of information.
Social Security Number Trace
This search uses the Social Security Number to determine all names that have been used apply for credit and the addresses provided at the time the credit report was run for any given social security number.
Social Security Number Validation
An SSN Validation is used to determining if a social security number is validly issued. This search returns the year(s) and state of issue for the SSN provided. It does not verify ownership.
Social Security Number Verification
An SSN Verification will confirm ownership of a given social security number based on name, date of birth and social security number. This search is processed through the Social Security Administration (SSA) and can only be performed once the individual is hired; it cannot be used as a pre-screening tool.
