Compliance Update: Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
Background Information Services, Inc. (BIS) strives to provide you with important updates to local, state and federal laws and requirements. (Please note that BIS is not a law firm, and cannot provide legal advice.)
You may be aware that a new rule will go into effect on January 6, 2020 that requires DOT/FMCSA-regulated employers to report to and search real-time information about commercial driver's license (CDL) and commercial learner's permit (CLP) holders' drug and alcohol program violations in the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse database.
BIS is equipped and prepared to conduct these new and annual searches on your behalf. If you would like BIS to process searches in the Clearinghouse database, you will need to register, obtain a query plan, and designate BIS as your consortia/third-party administrator (C/TPA).
If you have any questions regarding your obligations under the new Clearinghouse rule, extensive FAQs can be found here: https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/FAQ
